Mark and Eileen Komanecky teamed us up with Steve Sisler of Sisler Builders, Inc. in Waterbury Center, Vermont to design and build a craftsman style residence located near the Stowe Country Club. Built on a sloping site, the lower level media and game rooms offer direct access to a mostly level game yard. The deck, which is supported with oversized shingled columns, surrounds the dining room, great room and main level guest bedroom suite to the grade at the east and west ends of the home.

Upon entering at the front door, one is invited to see through the central stairway and by the great room fireplace to the southerly views beyond. With the long axis of the house being east-west the solar orientation is southerly with sweeping views from the Worcester Range in the southeast to the Green Mountain Range in the southwest. In the great room, the Western Fir ceiling soars to the upper floor level where the views from a balcony are focused through windows near the peak of the room. The balcony connects the master bedroom suite on the east with the two kids' bedrooms and a hall bath on the west.

As is typical, we designed the locally built custom kitchen with our clients' full involvement. The kitchen cabinetry and bathroom vanities are built from Western Fir. The wood floors on the main level and upper level, including the bathrooms, are Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry), a very hard, durable and richly colored wood species. The combination of Jatoba and Western Fir as the dominant wood species drove the saturated paint color schemes that are used for the walls and ceilings throughout the home.
