Conceived as a second home in Waterbury, Vermont, the owners have decided to make this Adirondack Revival house their primary residence. Their decision in part is validation of the completely positive four year experience they have had during the design and construction phases.
The house setting is in a broad clearing with expansive views ranging from the southeast to the northwest. The composition of the roof form is as a cap with low, wide human scale eaves punctuated with a strong central gable that provides the vaulted ceiling for the shared dining and living room space. Red cedar shingle siding and stone give the exterior a rough and casual texture.
The main level public rooms feature a locally crafted timber frame of eastern spruce, old growth heart pine flooring and alder running trim, doors and cabinetry. Our design services incorporated the master planning of the one mile driveway, the pond location and swimming pool design, the landscape design, the design of a 1000 SF guest cabin and a 1200 SF workshop, along with comprehensive interior design services.
